Remembrance Day Farmers’ and Craft Market

This Novembers Farmers’ and Craft Market will take place on Remembrance Day (Saturday 11 November), where we will remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Farmers’ and Craft Market will take place from 9am to 2pm in the Market Place, where there will be a Poppy Collection and Appeal by the Royal British Legion alongside Last Post and Reveille at 11am.

Christmas Lights Festival returns to Gainsborough!

Christmas Lights Festival

West Lindsey District Council is delighted to announce the return of the Christmas Lights Festival to get you in the festive spirit.

The two-day Christmas spectacle includes a laser light show and a wide range of FREE activities for all the family to enjoy. This includes nostalgic vintage fairground rides and amazing performances from the cast of our pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, which will take place at the Trinity Arts Centre.

Christmas officially launches at Marshall’s Yard

The Spark Drummers will provide a widening performance taking place at 6pm and 7pm at Marshall's Yard

A two-day festive event will take place at Gainsborough’s Marshall’s Yard to coincide with the launch of the centre’s spectacular Christmas lights display.

On Friday 17 November the Yard will host several talented performers on the main stage whilst people can browse the stores plus an additional twenty festive stalls selling delicious street food, crafts and gifts.

Plaque unveiled to mark Gainsborough firms’ place in transport history

National Transport Trust Red Wheel plaque. Reads: Marshall Sons & Co Britannia Ironworks. Founded in 1848 and, for over a century, a leading manufacturer and exporter of agricultural machinery and military hardware.

A National Transport Trust plaque has been unveiled to record the historic significance of a former Gainsborough machinery manufacturer at Marshall’s Yard by Sir Edward Leigh MP.

The National Transport Trust, with the agreement of Dransfield Properties, unveiled a ‘Red Wheel’ plaque to highlight the work of Marshall, Sons & Co and its place in manufacturing history.

Marshall, Sons & Co, was primarily an agricultural machinery manufacturer founded in 1848 and based in the Britannia Iron Works, now Marshall’s Yard.

The plaque, unveiled last Friday (9 September), is sited on what was once part of the Marshall Sons & Co’s original building, now occupied by Wilko.

Literature Village set out their stall at Gainsborough Farmers’ & Craft Market

Literature Village at Farmers Market

Visitors to the Farmers’ and Craft Market on Saturday had a chance to satisfy their inner bookworm, as the Newark Book Festival on Tour stopped off in Gainsborough with their Literature Village.

This was the first time that the Newark Book Festival on Tour had travelled out of Nottinghamshire, adding a new dimension to the day and complementing the craft and produce traders.

The Market Place was busy with book lovers, and visitors were able to enjoy the Literature Village which include the work of several authors and poets, as well as publishers and booksellers. Throughout the day there were also storytelling and reading sessions for people to enjoy.
