Visitors to the Farmers’ and Craft Market on Saturday had a chance to satisfy their inner bookworm, as the Newark Book Festival on Tour stopped off in Gainsborough with their Literature Village.
This was the first time that the Newark Book Festival on Tour had travelled out of Nottinghamshire, adding a new dimension to the day and complementing the craft and produce traders.
The Market Place was busy with book lovers, and visitors were able to enjoy the Literature Village which include the work of several authors and poets, as well as publishers and booksellers. Throughout the day there were also storytelling and reading sessions for people to enjoy.
The regular and popular Farmers’ Market stalls were there, alongside craftspeople, and as a more unusual attraction for visitors, Victorian/steampunk duo ‘Crab and Crumb’ paid a call on their fantastical ‘bicycle machine’, trading their weird and wonderful wares.
The next Farmers’ and Craft Market will take place on Saturday 14 October!
The Gainsborough Farmers’ and Craft Market takes place on the second Saturday of the month from 9am to 2pm, February to December. Next month, DINOSAURS will come to town with a chance to meet Pete, the Tyrannosaurus Rex and his baby dino friends. Walkabouts with Pete will take place at 10am, 12pm and 2pm with an opportunity to meet the baby dinosaurs in between*.
