The popular ‘Barket’ Dog Market event will be hosted at Marshall’s Yard in what promises to be the ‘ultimutt’ treat for your four-legged friends.

A Crufts-style competition will take centre stage at the event, which will be hosted at the popular Gainsborough-based shopping centre for the first time, after previously being staged in the town centre.

In addition to the dog show, there will be more than 18-themed dog stalls, selfie photo area, a chance to make your own ‘paw-trait’, doggy treats, free face-painting – sponsored by Bomead (McDonald’s) – and food stalls.

The Barket will be taking place close to The Works store and is held in partnership with Jerry Green Dog Rescue, at the Gainsborough-based shopping centre on Saturday, May 18, from 10am to 4pm.

Mel Cutforth, Assistant Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, said: “We can’t wait to host this exciting pet-friendly event, which always proves popular in the community.

“It promises to be a great day out both for dog owners and your furry friends.

“There will be a great range of stalls, entertainment and of course you will get the chance to see who is crowned top dog!”

Categories for the Crufts-style competition include Cutest Pup (dogs up to one year), Lovely Lady, Handsome Chap, Best Trick and we will also find out who is top dog with the award for Dog of the Yard up for grabs for the overall winner of the show.

Sign-ups for the competition are on the day only with registration from 10:30am from Jerry Green’s stand. The show will start from 11.30am.

There will be over 18 dog-themed stalls selling natural dog treats, collars, leads, dog accessories and ‘pawfumes’, plus dog-themed household items like ornaments, cushions and pet portraits.

Pup cups will be available in the event area and at Costa Coffee, Cupcake café and Caldero Lounge. Dog ice cream is available from Cream café & tearoom.

There will also be tasty food stalls to help keep hungry owners going on the day including Yamas Greek food, Flipping crepes, The Dogs Lincs (loaded hot dogs) and pick & mix sweets.

In addition, the event provides an ideal opportunity to check out the fantastic line-up of shops at Marshall’s Yard including Browns Department Store, The Florist and JYSK, plus a range of great independent shops located around the historic town centre.
