Gruffalo Trail kicks off summer of fun at Marshall’s Yard

Summer at Marshall's yard

There is plenty of family fun in store over the summer holidays at Marshall’s Yard – kicking off with the Gruffalo Trail!

Youngsters will be able to pick up their trail maps from the fountains area at the Gainsborough-based centre at the launch of the trail on Saturday, August 3. And there will be a special visitor at the centre, as the Gruffalo will be there for a meet and greet between Noon and 1pm.

The trail will then take youngsters on an adventure around the centre searching for clues to help spell out a secret code word, so be sure to keep a watchful eye out!

Return your work sheets to The Works store at the end of the trail to be entered into a prize draw.

Prizes include a £10 gift voucher from Shoezone, which would be perfect for getting in those new school shoes! The trail will be active throughout the school summer holidays until September 1.

Saturday promises to be an action-packed day as the artisan market the ‘Independent Quarter’ will be back on from 10am to 3pm.

Visitors will be able to find a great range of quality handcrafted artisan goods at the market, which will be located down the central path within the car park.

The trader line-up this weekend includes Pam’s Country Textiles (Assorted home-made items including tote bags, cushions, bunting, quilts and scrunchies), and Amaris Rising (An independent trader selling consciously sourced crystals along with hand-made sterling silver jewellery, home-wares and candles), plus many other high-quality traders.

Saturday’s bumper day is part of a summer of fun at Marshall’s Yard that also includes the annual Lunch Fest food and drink festival on August 17 and 18, in which visitors can expect to see a great variety of more than 20 food and drink vendors with flavours from across the globe.

There will also be live entertainment from performers including Ellie James & Western Duo, plus fun food eating competitions and challenges – including one to find the Yard’s best baker!

In addition to our packed programme of events, we have other attractions dotted around the centre to keep you entertained during the summertime.

Enjoy lounging on our comfy giant bean bags that are great for meeting friends and resting up after all that shopping!

Why not grab yourselves a spot of lunch at Prezzo? The restaurant has a brilliant outdoor seating area for al fresco dining and has a wide range of special offers for diners to take advantage of.

The Yard also has a wide range of brilliant shops including the recently opened B&M store selling home and garden products.

Melissa Clement, Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, said: “There is so much going on at Marshall’s Yard this summer.

“We have really tried to put on a packed programme for everyone to enjoy so come along and join in the fun!”
